I don’t hit the snooze button.
Every morning when I wake up to my extra-loud, extra-annoying alarm clock, I have always used the on/off function instead of “snooze”. This may be because I couldn’t stand to have that same blaring beeping noise wake me five minutes later, or it may be because I have always had faith in myself to respond to a calling.
I am still waiting for my “career calling” but I have at least seen a tiny light shining at the end of the tunnel. That light is the field of communication.
I am currently a communication senior with a specialization in public relations at Michigan State University. I fell in love with the communication program after I took my first COM class during the summer before my junior year. Ever since then my desire to study communication has just grown deeper and my interest reaches into almost all of the neighboring fields, which is why I chose to add the PR specialization.
Right now I am finishing up my last semester at MSU, and trying to decide where my future path is headed. I have really enjoyed my time in East Lansing and I would love to spend another year or two in Michigan mostly because I don’t think I am ready for a big move yet, but I am prepared to go wherever the wind takes me.
Other important things about me:
I love all sports. Whether I am participating or being a spectator, I have always had a love for the game. I am a big Detroit sport supporter and try to get to as many Tigers’ and Pistons’ games as I can every season. My ESPN guilty pleasure is Texas Hold ‘Em and I dream of one day being in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
Since my freshmen year of high school I have been a caffeine drinker. It started with a love for Diet Pepsi and has reached to specialty coffee drinks. It is an expensive habit to give in to, but nothing can warm me up like a good cup o’joe.
I am also a quote junkie. Any time I hear a good quote I either write it down or try to memorize it until I get my hands on a pen and a piece of paper. I find a lot of wisdom and meaning in other people’s words. This most likely comes from my appreciation for the written and spoken word, but I strongly believe that a well articulated thought can be the ultimate expression of a person’s character.
As part of this blog, I will be applying a quote to each entry. My inspiration for this came the “The Way I See It” quotes on Starbucks coffee cups, which are the majority of the quotes I will be using. I will not necessarily be using the quote as the central message of the blog, rather I will write about a topic and incorporate a quote that furthers my message.
I share your appreciation for the MSU College of Communication! Are you considering grad school here? Something to think about anyway, couple more years in EL…
